Katatonia Paved The Halloween 2009 Road
On a cold, rainy night in very late
summer 2009, the song “Dead House” by Katatonia would start the
Katatonia Era in concerts, and eventually, would end up shaping the
Halloween 2009 season. The Halloween season in 2009 began early for Andy, in
September 2009. Gary was tempted to do the same, but waited until October 1,
2009 to begin his Halloween 2009 campaign. But the tone was already set by then,
and after a full month of playing songs by Katatonia, it enabled both
performers to be in the Halloween mood and turn in what was one of the greatest
Halloween concert seasons in history. October 2009 turned into a Halloween
festival, as each concert contained Halloween-type music on both sides of the
basement. Both performers fed off each other’s Halloween spirit, but they can
thank Katatonia for setting up such a successful Halloween season in
2009.
The next question of course is, who will be the Fall 2010 Katatonia?
Which band will enter the picture out of nowhere and create such a surreal scene
and mood as Katatonia did in Fall 2009?
